BLOOD DONATION CAMP

As a part of the nationwide program on Janjati Gaurav Diwas, to commemorate the birthday celebration of Bhagwan Birsa Munda the Tribal Research Institute, Sikkim under the aegis of Social Justice and Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim in collaboration with the blood bank under the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim conducted a daylong voluntary blood donation camp at new STNM Hospital Sochyagang, Gangtok on 15.11.2021.

Shri Tshewang Gyachhho, SCS, Secretary, Social Justice and Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim inaugurated the daylong camp as Chief Guest. While addressing the gathering Shri Tshewang Gyachhho, highlighted the importance of ‘Janjati Gaurav Diwas’. He further, added that this is the day to commemorate the contributions of Bhagwan Birsa Munda for the freedom of the great nation. In view of the shortage of life-saving blood in the blood bank in Gangtok and in lines with the directives of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Government of India, the Tribal Research Institute, Sikkim has decided to donate blood during this historic celebration. A daylong voluntary blood donation camp was participated by about 25 donors from the officers, staff of Social Justice and Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, and representatives from Renjyong Mutanchi Rong Tarjum (Sikkim Lepcha Association, Gangtok). The daylong voluntary blood donation camp ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Shri Suman Gurung, SCS, Additional Secretary cum Director, TRI, Sikkim.
