The Sikkim Tamang Buddhist Association (STBA) proudly participated in the 11th National Tribal Dance Festival 2022, held in Bhubaneswar. This prestigious event was organized by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with the Tribal Affairs Division and the Social Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim.
The festival brought together tribal communities from across India, including the northeastern states of Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, and others like Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, and Odisha.
Representing Sikkim, participants from the Sherpa and Tamang communities showcased their vibrant culture and rich traditions at this national platform.
STBA expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the TRI Social Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, for providing this opportunity to promote the cultural heritage of Sikkim. A special thanks is extended to Shri Himmant Rai, Deputy Secretary of the TRI Division, Social Welfare Department, for his guidance and support to the Tamang and Sherpa communities during the event.
This participation is a testament to the cultural diversity and unity of Sikkim at a national level.
